A native of Iowa, violist Angela Kratchmer began her musical study at the age of four. Recently completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Luther College where she studied with Spencer Martin, Ms. Kratchmer served as the principal violist of the Symphony and Chamber orchestras, holding the Andrea Nelson and Kathryn Nelson Endowed Scholarship Chair. As a two-time finalist and a 2011 honorable mention recipient, Ms. Kratchmer competed with distinction in Luther’s bi-annual concerto competition. Graduating summa cum laude, Ms. Kratchmer holds membership in three academic honor societies, including Pi Kappa Lambda (music), Phi Alpha Theta (history), and Phi Beta Kappa (liberal arts). With a passion for chamber music, Ms. Kratchmer was a four year member of the Assez Vif String Quartet at Luther. Additional study has included summer festivals such as the Icicle Creek Chamber Music Institute, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, International Music Festival of the Adriatic, and California Summer Music.
